North Myrtle Beach lies about 20 miles north of the city of Myrtle Beach itself.   Long a major confusion among tourists, who think "North" refers to the upper end of Myrtle, the City of North Myrtle Beach is totally different in about every way. Myrtle Beach has hundreds of hotels. North Myrtle Beach has very few left.   In the past few years, nearly every small motel in North Myrtle has given way to the high rise condo.   While there are still a large number of older beach houses, you'll be hard pressed to find a motel in the summer...especially when the Society of Shaggers, or SOS groups are in town. The southern-most point of North Myrtle begins at the Barefoot Landing Shopping Complex, around 48th Ave South, or the 4800 block of Hwy 17.   Like Myrtle Beach, the streets are numerical, the south end coming to Main Street, or 1st Ave, and then becoming 2nd Ave North, and so on. The city of North Myrtle Beach comprises the beaches of Ocean Drive, at main street, Cherry Grove Beach to the immediate north of Ocean Drive, and then Crescent Beach to the south, and eventually Windy Hill Beach, which lays claim to Barefoot Landing and Barefoot RV Resort. The hotels you see on this page are the only important oceanfront hotels in North Myrtle Beach. We do have an usually large amount of restaurants for the size, and more chain restaurants such as Bonefishes, Olive Garden, and Outback are going up every day.
